How TrustHire works

Fake job and internship adverts look real on purpose. TrustHire is a free, open-source tool that checks a listing against public evidence and tells you how much of it holds up — in plain language, with every reason shown.

Step by step

  1. 1

    You give us one thing

A job link, or just the company name. Nothing else — no CV, no personal details, no sign-up for your first check.

  2. 2

We work out who the employer is

Job links from hiring platforms carry the company name inside them, so we read it from the link, then from the page itself if it opens. That name is what everything else is based on.

  3. 3

    We collect public evidence

The listing text, the company's own website, employee reviews on Glassdoor and AmbitionBox, public Reddit discussion, and open web results. Only things anyone could look up themselves.

  4. 4

    We run a checklist

Fixed, auditable checks: does the company exist and have a real website, is the pay realistic, is anyone asked to pay money or hand over ID up front, is the contact address a free mailbox, and so on.

  5. 5

    A model weighs in

A small pattern-matching model, trained inside the app, compares the wording and structure of the listing with thousands of examples of real and fake postings. It has no internet access and calls no paid AI service.

  6. 6

You get a score and the reasons

One number out of 100, a plain-English verdict, the checks that pushed it up or down, and links to every source — so you can disagree with us and check for yourself.

Reading the score

Looks genuine90–100

A real, registered employer with a clean public record. Still confirm the offer itself.

Probably fine70–89

Mostly checks out. Small gaps, often just a young or little-discussed company.

Be careful40–69

Mixed signals. Talk to the company directly before sending anything.

High risk0–39

We could not confirm the employer, or we saw wording that fake listings commonly use.

Your reports

Every check you run while signed in is saved. Open it from History to read the same report again exactly as it was created, download it as a PDF, put related checks into a group, or delete them for good.

Common questions

Is it free?
Yes. One check without an account, then 10 a month with a free account. There is no paid tier to buy.
What is the deeper check?
The normal check scores the listing. The deeper check scores it twice — once from the listing alone, once with reviews, Reddit discussion and open web results — then blends the two, leaning on the extra sources more when they agree with each other.
Does a low score mean it is a scam?
No. It means we could not find enough to trust it. Genuine small employers with no web presence can score low. Read the reasons, not just the number.
Where does the data go?
Your checks are saved to your own history so you can reopen or delete them. We do not sell or share them, and we do not track you across the web.
Does it use ChatGPT or other paid AI?
No. The scoring model is trained and run inside this app. That is deliberate: the tool stays free, open source, and inspectable.
How does it get better?
When people mark a result right or wrong, that becomes a training example. New models are only used if they score better than the current one on data they have never seen.
